The league runs for 6 consecutive weeks. The rain date for any missed Wednesdays or Thursdays will be the following Monday evening. All the action takes place at Mary Baldwin University tennis courts. Cost of the league is $100 payable to SWAT. Discounts for siblings.

Sponsored by Augusta Health

Augusta Health Fitness is proud to host and sponsor Tuesday Night Tennis, presented by the Staunton Waynesboro Augusta Tennis Association, on July 27th at 6 PM. Beginning and intermediate players are invited to come out to our clay court facility and participate as the Augusta Health Fitness Tennis Staff lead you through four tactical doubles drills that will make your time on the court more fun and competitive!

The clinic will start promptly at 6 PM and after an hour of instruction, players will be encouraged to stick around and play some round robin doubles to practice what they just learned! Free for SWAT members, $5 for nonmembers. Join SWAT for as little as $15. Non-Augusta Health Fitness members should arrive 15 minutes early so you have time to complete our Guest Waiver before participating.

SHOULD I STAY OR SHOULD I GO

Coach Chad Reed, Tennis Coordinator/Head Pro, will lead this drill helping you to understand the visual clues taking place across the net that can help you more easily make the decision to poach in doubles as well as practice the correct way to poach when you do.

STAGGERED DOUBLES POSITIONING

Coach Greg Allen, Assistant Tennis Coordinator/Pro, will lead this approach to doubles positioning that helps to eliminate confusion over which player takes a ball hit down the middle of the court and which player covers the lob. When executed correctly, staggered positioning effectively reduces your opponents’ options for hitting winners.

PRESSURE POINT DRILL

Coach Freddie Roberts, Staff Tennis Instructor, will lead this drill which works on getting the baseline player to the net with his or her partner. Players will focus on recognizing a short ball to come in on and putting pressure on the opponent. Once at net, both players will then work on where that next shot should go.

LIVE BALL

Coach Mark Gordon, Staff Tennis Instructor, will lead this fast action singles/doubles game designed to have players improve their directional control, focus, and movement when under the pressure of competing.

Tuesday Night Tennis (TNT) features one hour of group instruction by local tennis professionals for beginner and intermediate level adult tennis players followed by one hour of round-robin doubles play. This year's TNT was held on the tennis courts at Mary Baldwin University. Participation in TNT is FREE for SWAT members and $5 per night for non-members. No registration is necessary.
